Due to popular demand, Noborigama firings from May onward will be dedicated to firing with salt/soda in both chambers. This is a change from previous programming, as we typically have fired one chamber wood reduction only (without salt/soda). We have found that the majority of participants tend to prefer the effects of the salt/soda chamber to the wood-only chamber, since it combines the flashing and ash associated with wood firing with the color and surface effect of salt/soda! For those who are particularly interested in strong wood reduction and ash affect found in Anagama-style kilns, we recommend the Train Kiln.
